Are Free Online Classifieds Really Worth Your Time And Money?

When you own a home based business and you’re looking to gain a bunch of prospects in a short period of time free online classifieds can be a very tempting option. But are they really worth your time and money?

Now I know what you’re thinking…

“Money? I thought those sites were suppose to be free!”

And they use to be. However, Craigslist has become a paid site if you want to post in the jobs section. Sure you can still post in the small business section with a phone verified account but lets face it. Not many people check that section out on a daily basis.

Backpage another popular Craigslist type site is still free in the job section however, it still wont get you as many views as the job section of Craigslist would.

In my opinion paying $25 or sometimes $50 (depending on the city you want to post in) per ad is crazy. Especially considering it’s only seen by one city in the country for pretty much one day. Sure your ad will stay up for 30 days but nobody really looks at it once it’s a couple days old.

To really be successful you’ll need to post every day. That can cost you $700- $1550 per month! And that still doesn’t promise you a single sign up.

No we’ve established that using the paid option isn’t really worth it for 90% of network marketers. So what about the free stuff?

Well I’m never one to say no to free marketing. In fact I think anything you can do online for free for your business is awesome.

The problem however is that it just doesn’t have that staying power that other types of online marketing has. In order to be successful and get a lot of leads you’re going to have to post every day and in different cities. Which is hard to do with Craigslist and very time consuming.

I want to make it clear that I’m not totally against online classified ads. I do believe them to be a pretty good way to get prospects for your business if you’re willing to sacrifice some time and possibly some money. However, in my experience there are a lot of better ways to market your business online that will allow you to get a lot more bang for your buck and your valuable time.
